Concept / Corridors of Power

Statesʼ have Governments, Corporations are steered by a Board of Directors and even organizations of our civil society – Labour Unions for example – function in conjunction with a superordinate governing body or umbrella organization. Should decisions be made publicly or voluntarily as in Democracies or taken in a constrained fashion as in Dictatorships: decisions made by individuals determine a large part of our collective existence. Our societal, economic and political leadership or command is in the hands of a few decision makers and the location and place in which they make their decisions may be pompous, representative and publicly accessible, and sometimes small, inconspicuous and covert. In any case they are Corridors of Power. They are spaces, which I photographically wish to portray. For fine art requests and purchase options, most images are available in editions. Konzept / Räume der Macht

Staaten haben Regierungen, Konzerne werden von Verwaltungsräten gesteuert und auch die Organisationen der Zivilgesellschaft – beispielsweise die Gewerkschaften – funktionieren mit übergeordneten Organen. Sei es freiwillig wie in Demokratien oder unfreiwillig wie in Diktaturen: individuelle Entscheidungen bestimmen einen grossen Teil der kollektiven Existenz. Die gesellschaftliche, wirtschaftliche und politische Führung liegt in den Händen weniger Entscheidungsträger. Und die Orte, an denen sie ihre Entscheidungen treffen, sind manchmal pompös, repräsentativ und öffentlich zugänglich, manchmal klein, unscheinbar und verborgen. In jedem Fall sind es Räume der Macht, Räume, die ich fotografisch sichtbar machen will. Sie faszinieren mich als Symbole eines global vernetzten Systems von Gesellschaft, Politik und Wirtschaft. Concept / Lieux de pouvoir

Les gouvernements dirigent les états, les conseils dirigent les groupes, les entreprises et les syndicats. Le pouvoir économique, politique et social est entre les mains de peu de gens, mais leurs décisions déterminent le futur d’une grande partie de l’existence collective. Lors de mon projet, je vais aux lieux où des décisions sont prises qui concernent tout la société. Ces lieux sont parfois pompeux, représentatives et accessibles au public. Et parfois ils sont petits, falots et larvés. Ils sont un symbole de notre système social, politique et économique interconnecté globalement.
